We love this book! July 7, 2008 Ashley Barrett (Utah USA) My son had this read to him for the first time at 2 months and he just sat and listened. This is an excellent and fun book!
Somehow the creatures look just like their names October 22, 2006 Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States(cashbacher@yahoo.com)) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
When she was young, my daughter loved this book. The rhymes are so wonderful and the creatures somehow match their images. The Zlock somehow looks like a Zlock, the Zelf like a Zelf and the Bofa like a Bofa. Do your child a favor and enrich their life by reading this book to them.
All right book, rhyming book with creatures, but a bit pointless January 31, 2006 A. Woodley (New Zealand) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
My 4 year old daughter is quite interested in this book but doesn't really like it. She keeps hoping, (I think) that there is more too it. The joy in this book is that it is all about rhymes, nureau's in the bureau, tellar, sellar, bellar etc in the cellar and so on. Which is a nice early rhyme style story - learning about sounds and I guess you could say the texture and rules of language. However the story is almost pointless. Some of these animals are good and some aren't - but it is difficult to tell while - the Nofa on the Sofa is apparently an animal he doesn't like, but it just appears to be reading a book quietly. I found the illustrations a bit unsatisfying as well. They are in colour, but when I compare them to the glorious detail of Horton Hatches an Egg (which is only coloured in three colours) then the Wocket in the Pocket does not match by any stretch of the imagination. It is a simple easy story to rattle off at bedtime, it teaches rhyme but it doesn't inspire my children.

Delightful November 15, 2004 Paper Pen (Long Beach, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a delight for kids and adults. It's fun to read out loud, with goofy creature names like yottle, nooth grush and quimney. I've read it many times to my two kids without getting tired of it. The artwork is fun and playful. What else would you expect from Dr. Seuss?
