OK as is, but not really what I needed it for without modification November 22, 2008 Gerald M. Debaker (Southeastern, MI USA) Let me explain..I purchased the SWAGMAN BICYCLE CARRIER which is already threaded inside the hitch bar, but not lockable. I purchased this unit in hopes of being able to lock the carrier to the vehicle using the Softride 25219 QuietRide Hitch Pin. The threads did match the SWAGMAN BICYCLE CARRIER, but I had to shorten the shank of the lock by about 1/8" by grinding it off in order for the lock to snap into the locked position. This would not have been necessary if the threaded end was an 1/8" longer. I did not use the other parts that were supplied. I thought it was rather 'pricey' for an item not made in the USA. AMAZON.COM did a great job as usual.
Works great for hollow stingers! November 9, 2008 Christopher J. Shaker (Bend, OR United States) The Softride Quietride Hitch Pin works very well to stop the clunks that occured on my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The receiver is too large, letting every stinger (hitch mount) I've tried slop around and make lots of noise. This locking hitch pin pulls the stinger tight to one side of the receiver, so that it doesn't rattle and clunk around. Note that this will *NOT* work with solid stingers. The stinger must be hollow to this clamping lock pin to work.
Works as it should October 18, 2008 Nashuaslick Not much else to say, I got this for use with the Freedom Grill and it works well and eliminates the wiggle room.
Almost perfect... April 19, 2008 S. C. Dominguez (Dallas, TX USA) I had a lot of trouble finding a lockable hitch pin that fits the factory trailer hitch on my 2006 Ford Explorer. This one does the job, but be sure you put the lock on the passenger's side of the hitch. If you put it on the driver's side of the hitch, it will get stuck, and because of the location of the electrical connections on the Explorer, you will have a very difficult time inserting the key to unlock it. Once properly installed, this hitch works better than anything else I've tried. It's very stable, and it keeps my trailer from walking at high speeds. However, my only complaints are that it takes some time to install, and you're going to need a 7/8th inch wrench. I feel like the design while effective could benefit from additional engineering to make it more convenient. My other quibble is that it's made in China, but it does seem to be made fairly well. If you own a Ford Explorer and you're concerned about security and stability, this is the way to go.
