Amazon.com "How 'bout them Cowboys!" is the exhilarating victory cry roared by hair-sprayed coach Jimmy Johnson after back-to-back Super Bowl championships for his Dallas Cowboys in 1993 and 1994. This overused cheer became almost as obnoxious as Dallas' claim as "America's Team." Fortunately NFL Films' Cowboys: Super Bowl XXVIII Champions doesn't use the refrain until almost the 40-minute mark of this 45-minute highlight film of the 1993-94 season, which lead to 12 wins and 4 losses for Dallas, culminating in a 30-13 victory over Buffalo in the championship game. Breaking away from the format of letting the key players explain important moments in the season in their own words, the video spares us the gloating of Johnson and egotistic Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Yes, there are plenty of sideline shots of both, but given the circumstances there could have been more. Plenty of game action is offered, but it's left mainly to the interpretation of NFL Films' writers and narrator Harry Kalas. And there is plenty to comment about, from halfback Emmitt Smith's holdout that led to two opening-season losses to the midseason injuries of quarterback Troy Aikman and Smith that led to the other two defeats. It would have been nice to hear Smith explain how he overcame the pain of a partially separated shoulder to play the final regular-season game and the playoffs. Regardless, this film is a must for pro football fans, particularly Dallas fans. After all, "How 'bout them Cowboys!"--Gordie Sholtys

What else do you expect from the team of the decade...another Super Bowl Season. The season that started off on a low note (2 losses) only to come back and win it all. NFL Films does an outstanding job in showing all of the highlights and details of the super season.
