Fun and exciting but REALLY hard December 30, 2008 Jamil Snead 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have never played on of these before, but I just bought one for my friend as a gift. It is actually pretty cool, and can be really fun and exciting. I have 2 complaints: 1. Most of the players don't run straight. The set includes some bases that are supposed to allow you to adjust the turning of the player, but it doesn't really work at all. I ended up taking those off and just using the "straight" bases. Even so, most guys just run in a circle. Sometimes even a really tight circle, like one inch diameter. This is really annoying when it is your ball carrier. There may be a way to adjust the straight bases, but as far as I know there aren't instructions telling you how. 2. Passing is almost impossible. It's hard to explain how passing works, but essentially you are trying to catapult the tiny foam ball over to one of your tiny players, and the ball has to hit the player. One of the problems is that the ball needs to be wedged onto the "catapult" before you fling it, so it is hard to gage how much flicking it takes to release the ball, let alone pass it a certain distance. The game ends up being run-only. I have only played this game for about an hour, though, so I'm sure it has a learning curve to it. Maybe passing is actually possible. Maybe you can fine tune the circling of the players. Regardless, the game can still have really exciting plays. Kicking works surprisingly well. All in all, I can't say if I would recommend it. I'm not the best judge, because I haven't used it enough. But at the least I can say that it doesn't suck.
