This football is liked by all! December 28, 2008 A. Gift For You (Pittsburgh PA) Our 9 year old boy is a sports fanatic. He got this football from Santa this year and he absolutely loves this football. It flies great in the air and gives the child a lot of confidence in his/her throwing abilities. It is much better than the Nerf foam footballs out there!
The Black Bomb is back! December 5, 2008 Systems_Consultant (Eden Prairie, Mn United States) Like another reviewer I've been looking for another "Black Bomb" for years since my old ones have worn out. This appears to be the same product, but with a different name. The only difference I can see is that the mold release agent used in manufacturing the Black Max has the feel of silicone spray and is a bit slippery. I don't seem to remember that feature in the original but it's no big deal as it will probably transfer off the ball during use. This ball is a fantastic outdoor toy for the 8 - 14 year old kid and the adults who care for them. It is smaller than an "official NFL" football but who cares? It fits better in smaller hands and is a pleasure to throw and catch. It's soft (but not nerf ball soft) material is easier on the hands and other body parts that it might impact by accident. Kids that shy away from leather footballs warm up to this one and have a lot of fun with it. It can be thrown a long distance and is easy to throw a nice spiral. The downside is that it will degrade over time and with use. It's best not to bounce it off of bricks and driveways as the abrasion that results will cause the dense foam material to wear away more quickly than play in a grass yard. But, hey, it's only $10 so buy a few and put them in a closet for later. Best $10 I've ever spent on a yard toy.
Great Nerf-type football September 19, 2008 Thomas L. Cafarella (Boston area, USA)
I can throw spirals with this football better than with other Nerf-type footballs. Really liking it....
Black Max is the Bomb August 8, 2008 A. Howard (Lancaster, PA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband had one of these a few years ago, under a different name, and he loved it. Said it was the best football ever. We could'nt find it for years and finally I found it here. I got one for his birthday and he was very surprised and happy. He says you can't make a bad throw with this football. The ring around the center helps give it spin, even for my 9 and 5 year old. Highly recommend this product.
Good Football - Pull Some off your strong throw March 25, 2008 Joel C. Davis (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a good football - I got it for my nephew who is nine. It is a little counter-intuitive, meaning that there comes a point where the force of which you throw it does not make it go further and even can make it go less distance. It seems to be designed to make a smooth strong throw travel far and with a good spiral - if you over throw it I have found it has a negative effect. Great for a nine year old who can't really overthrow it - to those adults out there - pull a little off your "Long Bombs" as my nephew calls them, and it will do the work for you.
